Review of I Am Love (2010) by Mari A — 24 Sep 2011
Italian upper-class drama is not usually my thing but Tilda Swinton plays a Russian woman who kinda doesn't belong there, and the focus is on the weakness of this kind of family/society. The unexpected things they do to bring you inside her mind, and the cinematography in general, are very well thought ought and very effective, and Tilda herself is perfect.
The epic John Adams music is jarringly grandiose but I love it. The movie is all about Tilda's character, but her relationship with (and love for) each other player is very important so it's also quite an interconnected ensemble kind of movie, which I love.
