Review of Husbands and Wives (1992) by Matt K — 02 Jul 2009
A much lesser Woodman film. It takes a very long time to get interesting as most of the characters are horrible to each other, while saying they love each other. I was never really engaged or cared about any of their struggles, they seemed like petty people with petty problems.
I will give it that all of the relationships seemed decently realistic, with very few "hollywood" type developements. I also didn't get the documentary style. I felt like I was watching 60 minutes or something, it didn't really hurt the film, but I don't think it did anything for it either.
Overall, pretty disappointing, but it isn't a bad film.
