Review of Humpday (2009) by Andrew S — 22 Nov 2009
Despite the fact that this was not directed by the Duplass brothers it still has all their signature style to it, which isn't a bad thing. Once again the characters come off as actual real people through their motivations, conversations, and just plain mannerisms.
I love the fact that this was conversation heavy and that the conversations never got boring. They created an atmosphere of awkward and random moments that were all to real and funny at the same time.
I wasn't too thrilled with it's abrupt ending but it felt somewhat natural conclusion to the story. I think other so called indies need to take note of this film. This is a truly independent film.
With its minimal cast, no name actors, limited location, well written script, and realistic camera work this film is just as funny and entertaining and can compete against whatever mainstream films are out there today.
