Review of Humpday (2009) by Andy A — 19 Nov 2011
This is a funny film where two straight male friends sort of dare each other to make a porn film with each other, without being homophobic at all. I think it's mumblecore, and I have seen some mumblecore flicks where I felt hate afterward, and some that I have loved.
The Puffy Chair, also starring Duplass, was the first one that blew my mind, and now this is up there with it. I laughed hard several times during Humpday. It's inspired, hilarious (but not in a Farrely Brothers way), and makes me want to make a film that is this good and low-budget.
Run-don't walk-to your computer (wait, you must already be there) and put this one into your Netflix queue. (If you don't know mumblecore, research it before you do, so you know not to expect a Hollywood production).
