Review of Howl (2010) by Lisa T — 24 Jul 2010
While the film would have been more engaging if it had featured more dramatic scenes and less animation and interview scenes, many of Allen Ginsberg's poems and observations are thought-provoking, and James Franco delivers a fine performance.
Cinematography and set design are excellent and help create an atmospheric portrayal of New York in the 1950s. Only the court scenes appear contrived and lack substance.
