Review of Howl (2010) by Suzanne R — 02 Oct 2010
Howl splits its time between shots of the obscenity trial, Ginsberg's reading of his poem "Howl," and turning points of the poet's young life. The added animation illustrating Ginsberg's poem was appropriate to the story and made the words come alive.
The movie is both dark and light - a contrast of 50's moral code and beatniks. Entertaining and enlightening, Howl is worth seeing - especially in a retro movie theater.
