Review of How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008) by Darren C — 11 Apr 2012
I am a big fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm, so I was eager to watch Weide's film debut. Simon Peg is enjoyable as always, but I had the feeling that he could do much more with an edgier script. The film gives some genuine laughs when it finds the right chemistry, but in the end you get your sheer amount of cliches and moral lessons that you could see them coming from miles away and you hoped that they will get lost in the way.
It gave me the feeling that I was watching a witty comedy in my TV and then suddenly someone changed the channel and all of a sudden I was watching a typical Rom-Com that had to be a bit more polished so it wouldn't insult anyone.
Still though, well above the average of the typical Hollywood comedies.
