Review of How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008) by Luke R — 31 Dec 2012
I wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I am happy to say it delivered well above my expectations.
This film features a pretty good cast, including Simon Pegg, Kirsten Dunst and Jeff Bridges. In my view, Pegg puts forward the strongest and most likeable performance. Kirsten Dunst is okay, but not great. I thought she was quite wooden early in the movie but she warmed up as the movie progressed.
Surprisingly, I actually thought Jeff Bridges was very good. Gillian Anderson and Megan Fox provided further acting support, but I didn't think they were anything special - Fox in particular was a bit weak from an acting perspective. She was better in Transformers which is saying something!
The movie flowed quite well, with smooth scene transitions and music that I didn't really notice - which is a good thing.
Overall, I wasn't expecting to like this film, but it won me over. Pegg, in particular, was very impressive and should be reason enough to watch this one if you're in any doubt.
