Review of How the West Was Won (1962) by Nick O — 11 Oct 2008
I bought the newly restored BluRay version, which was fun to watch. The vastness of the story required a compression that forced simplification. I thought it was kind of lame in almost every segment, feeling more like 1960s TV shows pasted together.
Something comparable but much better might be made now as a cable series, exploring the entire sweep of America's history through the stories of several families.
