Review of How I Live Now (2013) by Michael K — 28 Mar 2014
It was alright. a little too simplistic, and the neuroticism of the main protganist, and overwhelmingly pubescent nature of the romance was more than a bit annoying, also, the lack of information on who was invading was pretty annoying too. I mean, they looked and sounded very much like brits. a looked ethnic...but you never were sure who exactly was attacking. even the chart of dead seemed to indicate it was across europe, but somehow America seems to not have been in any way involved...which is not at all probable. add to this, just ONE nuke? really???
And I tend to think the job was half-baked, half-arsed, and pretty much buggered.
The protagonists seems to have less of a sense of reality as someone mentally uncomplex. country folk are and have always been strong on common sense...as opposed to the urban opposite.
So all points gathered together, and I cannot give a strong or favorable rating. sorry. i'd expect more for a person as talented as miss ronan.
