Review of House on Haunted Hill (1959) by Davey M — 10 Apr 2008
Like a good haunted house, it's spooky, silly, gimmicky, nasty, filled with absurd screaming females, lots of fun, and totally inconsequential. Price is always a sheer delight to watch, Elisha Cook Jr.
makes any movie better, and William Castle has a lot of fun coming up behind and startling us--he doesn't always succeed, but he often does, and even when he doesn't the effort is well appreciated.
A very fun low-budget '50s horror picture.
