Review of House on Haunted Hill (1959) by Darren P — 04 Nov 2014
"7 PEOPLE SPENDING THE NIGHT AT A HAUNTED HOUSE".
- 'House on Haunted Hill' is a 1959 classic horror film starring the iconic Vincent Price (The Fly, The Ten Commandments). The movie was directed by William Castle (13 Ghosts, Bug). Although a bit dated, I'm an absolute fan this spooky film with brilliant twist. It's a must-see for all horror lovers. I just love the voice of Vincent Price. A remake and sequel followed in 1999 and 2007, but both were received poorly by the audience. Enter 'House on Haunted Hill' if you dare!
Millionaire Frederick Loren (Price) has invited 5 people to an allegedly haunted house to celebrate the birthday of his fourth wife Annabelle. These guests are all strangers, who are in need of money. If they are able to stay for the night, each of them will receive 10.000 dollars. Among them are test Pilot Lance Schroeder, columnist Ruth Bridges, psychiatrist David Trent, Loren's employee Nora Manning and owner of the house Watson Pritchard. After midnight all seven of them are locked inside the house and creepy things start to happen. Soon one of them hangs on a noose above the stairway. Was it suicide or is there a killer amongst them?
