Review of House on Haunted Hill (1959) by Fazley A — 07 Jan 2011

This movie was very well done and scary up to the last 10 minutes. Vincent Price was in top form and the whole thing was just downright creepy. Even the effects, which were admittedly very primitive, were very well done and scary.

It was far superior to the terrible remake that came out a few years ago. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was the ending, which was laughable and kind of ruined the whole mood. Watching the ending, you understand why, when this was shown in theaters, they flew a skeleton over the audience during the climax: it distracted them from what was on the screen.

But still, the movie is very good and worth watching. I highly recommend it.
