House On Haunted Hill is actually a good ghost movie. It offers everything a a proper ghost movie or a proper haunted house movie should have. This is brilliant. The story is about Frederick played by one of the horror masters Vincent Price who offers $10,000 to four strangers that can last a whole night in his haunted house on his haunted hill.

He gives each of his guests a tiny coffin containing a loaded handgun, designed to protect them from the spooks that emerge in the house over the course of the night and their task is simply to survive the night while they are haunted.

Solid script, solid storytelling, solid frights especially for a late 50s horror movie. I loved the frights I mean they just owned the ghost sub-genre. We get wax models rolling out of cupboards, skeletons from wine cellars, heads hanging from ceilings and ropes coming from windows.

There's no blood and gore in sight. I wanted to give this movie a 9.8/10 but I'll admit Vincent Price coming back as a ghost was cool and the music was scary which makes the film earn extra points so House on Haunted Hill gets a weak 10/10.
