Review of House of Wax (2005) by Michelle F — 09 Jul 2010

Haha, while seeing it I was TRULY scared of Vincent! He looked just so scary! I'm not really fast scared by horror films.. but I was when I watched House Of Wax! So I think that means it's a good movie. The story is very interesting I think because of the underlying, psychological details. The killer has a motive, and it makes you want to watch the movie till the end. Special effects are great and the story is just very original. Some scenes weren't nice to watch (for example the Wade scene), really gross sometimes, I'd almost call it a bit sadistic, but this movie is just good so I'm not seeing it as negative.

Elisha Cuthbert was great. Really! As always :) You could see the emotions in her eyes. Chad Michael Murry was very good too. They had chemistry.. while they should have played brother and sister.. Was a bit weird, but didn't bother me actually.

Even Paris Hilton was good, very unexpected. Funny to see her doing the famous haunted-blonde-girl-with-big-boobs thing, which comes back in every slasher.

All in all this is just an exciting movie full of thrills. Recommend for horror fans!
