Review of House of Wax (2005) by Emily W — 31 Jan 2010
Fun slasher with an oppressive atmopshere and nice visuals not to mention a large helping of gore.
This hardly feels like a remake of the '53 movie, if anything, it's more of a remake of '79's Tourist Trap.
The cast is likeable and all turn in o.k. performances, except Paris who is by far one of the worst actresses of all time. Her acting actually helps to make it feel more like one of those classic 80's slashers with the bad acting and all. Her death is amazing and worth seeing just for that.
It's got a few jolts, creep outs, and inventive death sequences. The drippy finale is quite an achievemnt in special fx with it's lifesize wax house melting down.
Good, fun, slasher delight! Worth a watch for horror and slasher fans!
