Review of House of Games (1987) by Jon T — 27 May 2009
Never been a big fan of Mamet's direction or dialog, and both are a little detrimental to the overall product here. "House of Games" has some decent twists, although knowing that it's a Mamet production makes it easy to guess who's going to double-cross who and how).
The only surprises for me were the aftermath of each betrayal and even then, the thing that really kept me watching was Joe Mantegna - he does a great job with what he's given here.
