Review of House of Games (1987) by Brendan L — 20 Oct 2007
Warning: This film drags in its opening section, mainly because Lindsay Crouse can't deliver Mamet dialogue for shit. However, once Joe Mantenga shows up, the movie has your attention. Like I said in my blurb for "Wonderland," there are certain movies I'm going to be predisposed to like based on subject matter alone.
This, with its clever, quotable dialogue, labyrinthine plotting, and look into the world of professional con artists, was no exception. There are some amazing shots in this, too. Warning: This thing gets dark as fuck.
