Review of Hotel Rwanda (2004) by Melody M — 11 Apr 2012
An amazing film. Like "The Last King of Scotland," "Hotel Rwanda" is also based on true events in Africa. It chronicles the genocide of the Tsutsi people by the Hutu population in the small nation of Rwanda back in 1995.
Don Cheadle plays a hotel manager to a five-star resort in the nation when he takes it upon himself to shelter thousands of refugees from the killing while nearly a half a million others were brutally slaughtered.
"Hotel Rwanda" is a beautiful piece of art that idolizes the hero in the day-to-day everyman. Joaquin Phoenix and Nick Nolte provide an excellent supporting cast as leaders of a U.N. Peacekeeping force in this emotional and inspiring true story.
