Review of Hoosiers (1986) by Asa C — 01 Apr 2009
This is a film concerning an underdog Indiana high school basketball team coached by a gruff Gene Hackman and an alcoholic Dennis Hopper. No, that is not the setup for a joke, that is actually the premise of the film.
This film is so cheesy, and the exposition is cliched, forced, and trite. This film is slow as Molasses. I simply do not understand why this film is so popular. I usually enjoy sports films; not this one, though.
P.S.--Indiana is not the hotbed of basketball; North Carolina is.
