Review of Hoosiers (1986) by Dylan M — 14 Jul 2009
Predictable and formulaic as sports films go. I kept wondering why they chose to have Hackman dress as Popeye Doyle which doesn't bode well for the narrative holding one's attention. Really the film is very dated to the 80's.
The score to the film has that overly synthetic 80's feel, their are some questionable editing choices and the structure to the film is overly simplistic. I understand this is considered a classic by many, it just does not hold up as a sports film like The Natural does.
