Review of Hoosiers (1986) by Robert S — 10 Sep 2010
One of my all-time favorite feel-good movies! Like most "sports" movies, it really isn't about sports; it's about character building and learning fundamentals. In sports, as in life, you must learn and practice fundamentals in order to succeed.
In the movie, teaching the game of basketball to a small group of high school kids is a metaphor for teaching the game of life. Is the finish predictable? Absolutely but I, for one, can't help but feel good at the end.
The movie truly captures Indiana and the musical score is among the best of any movie I have ever seen.
