Review of Homicidal (1961) by Sean C — 25 Nov 2010
William Castle are always pretty fun. This one has some actually very funny murder scenes and kind of a ham handed ending. It was definitely his take off of Psycho. I like the fear monitor gimmick near the end.
I heard that when the movie came out William Castle would offer a way out for the audience member before seeing the end of the movie if they were too scared. The fear monitor would be shown on screen to give the audience members a chance to leave the theatre.
Of course, after awhile people would go see the movie and stay in the theatre for the second show and leave before the end just to get there money back, so Castle started colour-coding the tickets per show.
That guy came up with some great gimmicks. Too bad no one does that stuff anymore.
