It isn't a joke. The 4th Home Alone film is totally stupid. The burglar Marv is completely different from what he was in the first two films. He had married a girl named Vera, and he isn't a idiot anymore, but looked identical to his pather Harry from the first two films too.
Kevin has a brother and a sister, but in the first two films Kevin had two brothers and two sisters. But worst of all: Kevin is never actually home alone and one year younger than he was in Home ALone 2.
