Home Alone 4 is one of those films that makes you think, "did the makers of this really think people would like it?" My guess is no, they probably didn't. Let's begin with the fact that they went back and replaced Kevin Macalister with a new actor. That's what kinda doomed them from the start. At least Home Alone 3 had the decency to except that that ship had sailed and went with a new storyline. But not this movie. This one is (I guess) supposed to be a sequel to the first two (funny since he has a completely different family in this one). Kevin, now played by Mike Weinberg, who may I add gives a decent effort but isn't half as charming as Macaulay Culkin, is now living with his single mom, who at some point was divorced from his dad. Mr. Macalister stops by to ask Kevin and his 2, I repeat TWO siblings if they would like to spend Christmas with him and there soon to be stepmother Natalie, who this movie apparently wants us to hate for whatever reason. All three decline his offer at first, but after having an argument with his mother and siblings (about something I can't even remember), Kevin reconsiders his dad's offer and decides to accept it. He gets to Natalie's large and more than high-tech house, as Natalie got really rich doing... Something, who really cares? There,I'd say by now they're about more than.

Halfway down the checklist of Hom Alone tropes. What's missing? Oh yeah, burglars. Marv Merchants, one of the burglars from the first two movies is here to take care of that. He is however played by French Stewarts, a completely different actor, as original Marv actor Daniel Stern probably red the script and said, "please don't make this.

Movie." Anyway, he's back after serving a seemingly unreasonably short prison sentence (that his original partner Harry is somehow still in). It seems that after all that's happened a issuing restraining order that keeps Marv away from Kevin should be more than necessary, but if there's one thing I've learned watching these movies, it's that.

They don't tend to embrace reason and logic. But since a home alone movie with only one burglar seems a bit odd, they inserted a replacement for Harry, this being Marv's new wife Vera (who he met God knows where). The first film had Old Man Marly, who was rumored to be a mass murder, the second film had the unnamed pigeon lady, who.

Was just scary in general, this third one has the unnecessarily creepy and strange butler Mr. Prescott. But judging by how the first two movies went, I think it's safe to predict that this guy will end up saving Kevin from the real antagonists. The only unique thing this movie really tries to do is have a twist ending that I won't spoil for you if for some reason you still want to see this movie.

In conclusion, Home Alone four is a vastly forgettable film that falls completely flat. Everything from the lame traps, to the villains, to the characters that we're supposed to like are all mediocre at best. I can't believe that I'm saying this, but a sequel to third Home Alone may have been better.
