Review of Home (2017) by Austin W — 09 Feb 2016
As an avid fan of Jim Parsons and his show Big Bang Theory I was pretty excited for home but it failed to deliver on most levels. It's hard to imagine that the same studio that released the beautifully animated and emotionally powerful how to train your dragon 2 in 2014 would return the very next year with semi passable childrens fare.
There are good things about the film though, it's very bright and colorful and at times has some pretty touching scenes. Also it has a pretty good twist near the end but the film does not have wide appeal like many other dream works movies.
It's geared more towards kids which is not allways a bad thing but it definitely keeps this movie from taking any risk or ascending much higher in terms of being a complex and dramatic cinemasterpeice like the Kung fu Panda and how to train your dragon films.
Im sure your kids will like it though.
