It's a little stagy, and, even at a fairly brisk 96 minutes, the central conflict runs a bit thin by the end. Still, "Holiday" is a breezy, sweet-natured, deeply felt romantic comedy that also manages to explore American alternatives to the classically capitalist American dream--sometimes the script seems to overly berate responsibility, but it's also a genuinely heartwarming celebration of a free spirit.

Hepburn and Grant are in top form--watching Grant's perfect, effortless, energetic use of his body and voice is a bit like watching Fred Astaire dancing; "Holiday" is a real testament to his genius as a comic actor.
