Review of History of the World: Part I (1981) by Vova Z — 30 Jun 2008
Feels like it had a lot of potential, but the lack of a compelling plot limits it. Especially during the Roman Empire segment, it didn't feel like it was going anywhere. It was often funny, but some of the jokes are also dull.
The anachronisms (as with other Mel Brooks films) are a nice touch, if not overused. The acting was nothing special, although Mel Brooks' five roles were entertaining. Overall, its a decent comedy, but not up to par with some of Brooks' other films.
