Review of Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) by Christopher R — 17 Aug 2008
As the two main characters unpack their memories and aspirations, we see how difficult it is to truly live in the moment; our pasts keep intruding and we can't help but wanting to get to some seemingly brighter future.
Resnais delivers a brilliant meditation on two injured souls (particularly Riva) trying to cope with their painful memories. This film gets into the minds of its characters as a novel would.
