Review of Highlander (1986) by Michael Y — 10 Jul 2010
A head chopping immortal scotsmen with the help of Sean Connery battles for the power to rule the universe set to Queen music. If that's not awesome, I don't know what is.
Done in a series of flashbacks, Highlander shows the story of Connor MacLeod and his 400 year life, from his banishment of his scotish clan, his experiance with his teacher, right up to his final battle with his arch enemy in 1985 New York. This movie has wonderfuly original story, making this movie a classic among Action Sci-Fi movies.
This movie has an incredible look to it, especially in it's flashback scenes. This movie has great cinematography, costumes, music scores, and just an interesting story to boost. This is a very stylistic movie, though at most times it tends to get a little too... '80s. But this movie is highly entertaining on an epic level, with sword fighting, a creepy villian, and Sean Connery!
This movie has many great movie moments, though at times it does lack in writting and kinda looses it's epic feel. The best parts of the movie are defenetly the flashbacks. But otherwise, this is an '80s classic that inspired horrible sequels and a bad tv series. But this movie is good. This movie is very well made and is worth seeing.
