Review of High-Rise (2015) by Paul F — 03 Jun 2016
High-Rise is a difficult film to categorise, primarily it's a drama with hints of science-fiction. Whilst the film was well acted, beautifully shot and offered an interesting view on the disintegration of order and society, there are some flaws.
The film is 20 minutes too long, there are scenes that dragged and boredom started to settle but the pace soon picked up when the cracks start to show in the high-rise complex. Director Ben Wheatley tries to blend art house cinema with a more mainstream approach, but ultimately this makes the film seem a little choppy.
