Review of High-Rise (2015) by Paul N — 18 Mar 2017
Although it sets a steady pace, I found this the most gripping film I've seen in quite a while. If it's your first Wheatley experience then you're in trouble. However having followed him through Ideal (although didn't realise that was his until yesterday!), Kill List, A Field in England and Sightseers, I knew to expect a mind fuck.
Comedy, pathos, violence, titillation and social commentary are shared out in relatively even amounts, and the result is staggering. It's clear that not everybody gets it, but for those that do, it's a real treat!
