Review of High Anxiety (1977) by Justin G — 25 May 2008
Don't get me wrong - this movie is funny. Then again, so are Hitchcock's movies. So why make a comedy out of what are essentially black comedies? Mel Brooks doesn't effectively make his case.
He's obviously a student of Hitchcock's and fellow followers are rewarded when looking at the details. Unfortunately the whole is less funny than its parts. Madeline Kahn and Cloris Leachman provide the loudest laughs and cement their status as some of my favourite comedians ever.
