Review of Hidden Figures (2016) by Beecee — 10 Jan 2017
This is a very enjoyable film about three talented and heroic black women in mathematics who were instrumental in the space program. It is well written, the music by Pharrell Williams is effective and fits the period, and the plot moves forward at a brisk pace.
The acting is also very good, particularly Octavia Spencer's turn as an underpaid supervisor. If this influences more young black women into going into the sciences, so much the better. There's nothing wrong with a crowd pleaser.
