Review of Hidden Figures (2016) by Aman A — 08 Mar 2017
Very crowd-pleasing and cliched movie that hit all the correct notes and punchlines. Hell, there multiple claps in the audience and I bet if I was in America, I'd have heard a few "You go girl"s.
The movie didn't challenge any boundaries or do anything knew. It was a good watch to watch but nothing more. The story being a true story did touch an important chord. I wish they would have taken that to the present level also and shown how school segregation and job segregation is still practiced in America, in some cases, even lawfully.
A disappointment from that angle, really since the movie seemed like a complaint of the past mixed with the outstanding heroics and belief of three strong women without adding anything to the present learnings for the new generation especially in the wake of a divisive President.
