Review of Hesher (2010) by Nicki M — 05 Aug 2011
The character Hesher is the god of chaos with a twist, he simply exists to destroy your household but while destroying it he also helps to rebuild it through chaos and disorder. Most people wont like Hesher as a character or as a film mostly because of the self-loathing son and father characters in the film who dont even try to fix their lives. But That is where Hesher comes into play and this is where the film is interesting, Hesher cant stand self loathing and through heavy metal and the chaos he tries to fix the household of T.J and Paul.
I felt this film to be refreshing, I usually dont like movies about self loathing households but this film felt different mostly because the film is telling people who self loath for any reason to get off their a** and start over. The music in the film if you are a fan of old school metallica is awesome and the acting by everybody is well done. None of the actors in the film try to hard to gain your sympathy if anything they are trying hard to make the viewer unsympathetic and thats the point of the entire film. Human's can only be so sympathetic towards these characters and just when the film wants you to be sympathetic towards T.J and Paul Hesher comes in from nowhere and relieves you of any sympathy you had for these characters.
