Review of Hesher (2010) by Chris V — 08 Feb 2014
I give this film the full 5 stars because to me it deserves them completely. Hesher is the story of a young boy. People seem to forget that this movie does not center around Hesher, himself. The film mainly revolves around this young boy trying to cope with the loss of his mother, and the future with just his father, who has fallen apart after losing his wife.
Hesher then enters this boys life, and after mainly wanting to take advantage of him, begins to truly care for the kid and his family, though he has a funny way of showing it, it's genuine. it's often times heinous, offensive, downright ridiculous, and I love every anarchic second of it.
surprisingly, this one actually demands repeat viewings, not because you don't get it the first time around, but because it is just that good. Maybe it's just me. But Hesher is easily in my top 5 favorite films of all time.
it is the crowning gem in my blu ray collection. I highly recommend it. give it a look, and if it doesn't look great the first time around, look again... Because it gets better every time I watch it.
