Review of Herø (2001) by Jacob C — 22 Dec 2015
96/100 - What sets Her apart is Spike Jonze's direction and writing. Instead of crafting a mockery of technology, he makes Theodore's relationship with Sam incredibly believable and natural. Jonze also incorporates a lot of wittiness when it helps so the entire film isn't completely depressing.
Joaquin Phoenix turns in a fantastic performance as Theodore, and Amy Adams and Scarlett Johannson are also allowed to show their versatility. This is both a great piece of social commentary and art.
