Review of Hereditary (2018) by Tommy T — 17 Jun 2018
I saw this movie today. I had read before how once again the "critics" loved a movie and moviegoers not so much. Lately I'm finding in general so many movies are crap and the critics give them good reviews. SEems fishy. Anyway, I tried my best not to prejudge the movie. I prefer slower more psychological based horror in any case.
The movie started okay for me and I thought Its not that bad. But then everything starts to go wrong. Its a horror movie alright. A horror of a movie. First off it is slow in an inappropriate way. Slow for slows sake. It's annoying how scenes are dragged out. The reason the movie is 2 hours and 7 minutes is because of annoying slow scenes that do nothing good for the movie. Then there are the silly references to other horror movies that are just boring. Then there are the actors. The father is stiff as they come and the mother overacts like a maniac especially as it goes on. The brother is boring. The story itself is not very original or interesting and the ending is like whatever. I was very happy when it ended so I could get out of this slow torture of a movie. Not the first time I've been burned with RT reviews/recommendations. I'm hoping this will be my last.
