An overlooked masterpiece by Eastwood in the twilight of his career. A movie that asks a ton of questions and is fascinated with the subject of dying, so of course it doesn't score well with North American critics and audiences, who want sunshine blown up their butts to the exclusion of anything that's real or serious.
