Review of Hereafter (2010) by Compi24 — 28 Feb 2019
Clint Eastwood lends his directorial talents to a script from "The Queen" screenwriter Peter Morgan, and the resulting effort, "Hereafter," definitely feels as though it has some kind of a soul.
However, in generally typical Eastwood film fashion, things are a little bit more minute and quiet this time around. "Hereafter" is an undoubtedly earnest film at times, but I think the lack of a central protagonist really hampers the weight of the events that transpire.
I found my interest in each of the three storylines ebbing and flowing so much that I came to doubt the approach overall, ultimately wishing for one magnificently satisfying story instead of the three semi-enjoyable ones we got.
Still, the acting is solid all around and you get some pretty eye-catching special effects here and there. It's not a watch that I've necessarily come to regret.
