Review of Hereafter (2010) by Wes S — 21 Mar 2012
I really enjoyed this film, it is a slow-paced character driven drama about the unbearable pain and hardship life can throw at us. The story is about several different characters and how their lives converge because of the people they have lost and the bad things that have happened to them.
At the center of these people is George (Matt Damon) who developed psychic abilities after flat lining on the operating table as a child. In a way George's psychic ability is used as a catalyst to the very human story each person has, while at the same time showing his own story and the struggles he's had to endure from seeing things that maybe we weren't meant to see.
Because more time is spent on weaving the lives together, there isn't much time spent on character development for any one person, but it's enough to draw you in and help you connect with the characters.
