Manages to maintain a certain degree of kitsch charm from the originals, especially thanks to Matt Dillon who hams it up There's Something About Mary Style. Lohan, Long and Meyer are their usual selves which is fine for a family romp such as this.
Unfortunately though many practical effects have been utilised, the CGI stands out horribly and makes Herbie more of a cartoon than he ever was. Everything else is as tired and predictable as you would expect, with few laughs for those who enjoyed the originals.
