Review of Hellraiser: Inferno (2000) by Adam T — 14 Nov 2009
A hell of a step up. Not a brilliant movie, but the closer since Hellraiser to recapture the forboding, dark and at times savage mood of the original. Yeah, it bears no relation storywise to Hellraiser or it's mythos and has more to do with Angel Heart of Jacobs Ladder plotwise, but mixing that and the Hellraiser guise refreshes both elements to a worthy whole.
Even if the adding of Pinhead is just an excuse to catch a glimpse again, his role as an hellish moral judge with a refreshed blank indifference not seen since the original adds power to a usually over written part.
Quality acting, nice visuals, good effects, it's elements are guises from at least several different horror sets given a fresh burst. It may be safe, but it's good!
