Review of Hellraiser: Hellseeker (2002) by Gemma F — 12 May 2009
Hallucination/dream movie about the husband of Kristy, (the girl from the first two Hellraiser movies.) Decent if you liked the original story and wanted more filler about the characters, or if you have never experienced a hallucination/dream plot device movie.
Unfortunately, I have seen several now, and it's pretty boring/annoying since once you don't know what is supposed to be real or where to find any meaning in it, all you have to look forward to is special effects and gore scenes.
There are really few directors/writers who seem to be able to pull off hallucination/dream sequence heavy stories: in particular, Franz Kafka and Orson Welles are the top in my book. Luckily, the end of the movie ties the movie together well, although they really went for a cheap plot fix between Kristy and Pin-head which did not make a lot of sense.
And how did the Chatterer cenobite get reincarnated? WTF? (Was the torso Chatterer in Hellraiser 4 connected to this??).
