At once intimate and explosive, this film â" my all-time favorite movie â" is a prime example of the horror genre's cathartic power. I find horror the most imaginatively therapeutic genre, as it not only forces us to face our fears, but holds a surreal, funhouse mirror up to them.
And this film reflects the most primal, universal fear of all â" family destruction.
