Review of Hellraiser (1987) by Josh S — 16 Jun 2009
Surprisingly for an 80s, low-budget horror film, Hellraiser's strongest feature is its plot. The story works extremely well on all levels, and the script offers the actors and actresses enough room to make it work.
Of course, being an 80s horror film, there's also a lot of grotesquely creative violence (a plus for the movie), as well as a couple special-effects sequences that just haven't aged well. Hellraiser, though flawed, is still definitely one of the better horror movies I've seen recently though.
