Review of Hello, Dolly! (1969) by Jo J — 15 Feb 2009
OMG this was fab! Not bad for a musical that I mostly watched because it was in WALL-E!
Barbara Streisand is fantabulous as the quick witted and charmingly manipulative Dolly. Louis Armstrong also makes a random but welcome appearance.
Interesting to note that it was directed by Gene Kelly, must watch more films he has directed as he sure has a knack with musicals.
The musical numbers are *wow* but at the same time effortless. The parade scene with the human made american flag and 'Hello Dolly' in the restaurant were my faves.
Watch it! Cute and fabulous.
