Review of Hello, Dolly! (1969) by Kim B — 09 Jul 2016
A cute old fashioned americana musical. Of course barbra streisand voice is beautiful as well as some of the other singers. Theres more singing and dancing than actual plot in this one and I sometimes found myself drifting off as it was a bit overkill.
The characters themselves are quite corny or unlikable (vandergilt) except, I found dolly to be a very charming and funny female character. Just a lighthearted film and nothing too serious. I didnt particularly like the costumes but thats just me, everything was big flowers and giant sleeves for women bleech too froufrou.
For some of these reasons its not my favorite musical but if u like musicals or streisand its worth a gander.
