Review of Hell or High Water (2016) by Aïko G — 14 Dec 2016
Hell or High Water is a modern western crime movie that delivers a lot of atmosphere and smart character building. We follow two brothers who are, at the start of the movie, busy with robbing small town banks.
Why they do this and who these two brothers are slowly becomes clear during the movie. When two Texas Rangers are put on the case, the movie switches between the robbers and the law and we see the gap between them closing slowly.
It ends with a perfect bang, that isn't about over the top action. The way the story is told and how the main characters are developed deserves the most credit in my eyes. Hell or High Water breathes lonely cowboy atmosphere and dusty Texas ghost towns and it all results in a fluid entertaining movie.
